An account of the biology of the maybug Melolontha, and damage done during the 1980s in young seed orchards of Norway spruce (Picea abies) and Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) in Lot Department, SW France. Trials of 2 insecticides, "Volaton 5" (phoxim) and "Dursban" (chlorpyrifos ethyl) are also reported for 2 Norway spruce stands. Mechanical tillage between rows of trees aided destruction of larvae in the soil, although this treatment must be carried out carefully to avoid damaging tree roots. / Cet article étudie un ravageur des plantations et pépinières forestières le hanneton commun, Melolontha melolontha L.
